Visiting Professional Musician Scheme

The roots of The Muze Trust

In February 2007 and March 2008, Mark Williams, now a trustee of the Muze Trust, visited Lusaka to perform and work with musicians there.  He gave recitals in Lusaka Cathedral and the Alliance Francaise, gave some individual organ lessons and worked at length with Vox Zambezi, a young chamber choir based in Lusaka.  Inspired by the sound of the group, in Summer 2009, he played a major role, with Peter Phillips, in organising a tour of England for the group.

Providing teacher training

There is currently no specialised programme for potential music teachers in Zambia. This is why the Muze Trust is establishing a scheme that will fund professional musicians to visit Zambia and provide teacher training through mentor-led workshops.

The first visit as part of this scheme was made by workshop leader and vocal coach Ghislaine Morgan. In April 2015, Ghislaine led a ten-day intensive programme of teaching training at the Ngoma Dolce Music Academy. The Trust is thrilled to be able to send such an experienced trainer and musician to Zambia.
